Three kinds of tires
We work with independent truck, fleet and passenger tire shops across the GTA.
- Truck casings: 11R22.5, 295/75R22.5, 11R24.5, 285/75R24.5
- Winter sets of four: 7/32" or more, under 5 years by DOT date, no repairs
- Passenger and light-truck singles, 4/32" to 7/32", for export buyers
A matchmaker, not a grader
Second Tread connects shops with trade buyers. We do not grade or certify tires. You judge each tire from the photos, DOT code and tread readings.

Buyers set the price, in writing
First written prices from a Kitchener used-tire retailer, for winter sets of four. Same price all year at the same quality; 8-9/32" and up preferred.

Who are your buyers?
Casing buyers and retreaders, used-tire retailers buying winter sets, exporters, and Ontario producer responsibility organizations under O. Reg. 225/18.
Do you grade or certify tires?
No. You get photos, the DOT code and tread readings for each tire, and you accept or reject each one.
Who sets the price?
You do, in writing, before we source anything.
What happens to tires that can't be reused?
They stay in the shop's regular collection program.
I run a GTA tire shop. Can I sell to you?
Yes. Sourcing starts once buyers have confirmed prices. Our shop terms are not set yet, so send us a note and we will tell you where things stand.
What does Second Tread charge?
Our margin is not set yet. Ask us and we will tell you plainly.
